Hi all! We hope you are happy and healthy out there!
The melt is on. I took Bernoulli and Beaker on a creek walk and there is slush and water forming in the creek. If the above zero temperatures continue, later this week we should see a full on melt of the creek. Sadly no Norbert footage on the tailcams but I swear when I was down there there were new trees knocked down. I took a video of the area so I can compare if we don’t get footage off the camera for a while. Once the creek starts melting it rapidly turns into something that you can’t even get close to, as places is easily shoulder height.
Big new for Beaker, she went to play-school with Bernoulli on Thursday and has the best day ever! Beaker is a COVID puppy and had starts and stops to her socialization. She does amazing with people and kids, but can get snippy with some other dogs and can resource protect Kris and places Kris is (like the car). So Waggles agreed to take Beaker and see how she did. The reports were amazing. Beaker had the bestest day and our golden girl was had huge smiles
.
Here is an adorable story from the day. Bernoulli and Beaker got there 10 minutes before everyone, and went outside to run around in the huge fenced play area. Bernoulli went from place to place excitedly “showing” Beaker around. It was pretty cute I guess.
We spoke about Bunsen’s recovery on Pet Chat and I felt Bunsen had plateued a bit this week, but I wasn’t the one taking him outside as I was off with Bernoulli and Beaker. Kris is pretty adamant that Bunsen is walking better and with more stability outside than ever before AND he really wants to go outside. She has been slowly increasing how much he walks from only a bit of our driveway to now twice (it’s a huge loop). She watches him carefully after and he doesn’t appear to be in pain. It’s something the vet team said to do after the 3-4 weeks of hard rest - slowly increase his on-leash walking and see how he does. He has come a long way in a month.
We should have hands on with the Bernoulli stuffie this week and then Kris and I have to make a decision about how best to go forward with the pre-sale. I’ll be blunt. There is a ton of confusion and uncertainty with how the American government is operating. Right now there are no tariffs on products to the states, but in a month there might be. Or they might be 50% or 100% or 0%. Maybe we won’t have any trade with the United States- it’s a wild time. We apologize to any of our American friends, but the most likely plan is for us to set a pre-sale price and then when we ship the stuffie when it arrives in September, you will have to pay whatever tariff the American government has decided you will pay as Americans to get the stuffie from the shipping company.
Lastly the Northern Lights were amazing early Saturday evening. I went in to get the week’s groceries and got a text from Kris saying NORTHERN LIGHTS! I hustled my butt and on the way home they were so bright they were gleaming even within city limits. There were fading when I got home, but the whole family was out watching them in awe. So very special.
No other big news for our family! Let’s get on with the rest of the newsletter (and don’t forget to check out the deal of the week at the bottom!)

Sneak Peek Clip:
We have a great episode this week where Kris and I break down a very cool advanced robotic hand for amputees, a very controversial genetic engineering breakthrough in mice, and our guest Dr. Kevin Morgan talks to us about Irish Chemistry just in time for St. Patrick’s Day!
