Bernoulli Week One
A Bitey Bear and Puppy Classes
Hi! I hope this newsletter finds you all happy and healthy!
Kris has said this line a bunch of times before we got Bernoulli - “Our lives will be changed forever.”
It’s true. Our lives are changed forever. All for the good.
Bunsen is warming up to Bernoulli so much so that he lets the little guy cuddle in close to him without any complaint - he still isn’t a fan of the puppy biting. Perhaps being older by four years he isn’t in the same space to deal with the shark biting like he did with puppy Beaker.
Beaker is also doing better each day with Bernoulli. She is slow to warm up to other dogs, being a COVID puppy, and her attitude the first few days was cold to the puppy. She snapped at him when he attempted to bite her and she avoided him as much as she could. Things are so much better now, Bernoulli and Beaker hang out all day and she has accepted him as being part of the family. I would say she isn’t at the same place Bunsen is, but she isn’t avoiding him and giving him stink stares anymore. HA!
The only animal that is having a rough go is Ginger. Bernoulli’s favourite game early this week was mauling her. Either out of curiosity or masochism Ginger gets in his bumbling way and she gets grabbed. I don’t think he’s really hurting her, but it was pretty shocking to see the little puppy dragging the cat around by the scruff of her neck while her ineffective claws and bites did nothing to Bernoulli’s thick coat and hide.
Ginger’s intimidation tactics which keep Bunsen and Beaker in line have had zero effect on Bernoulli. She tried to block him from entering our room on Wednesday and instead he just barrelled into her, tackling her to the ground, then dragging her around.
We have been redirected Bernoulli when this happens, but also occasionally seeing if Ginger will fight back a bit more so Bernoulli maybe is less happy about mauling something that might fight back, but that isn’t working. Bernoulli is fearless and doesn’t care. I would have to say that yesterday and today it’s getting better - Bernoulli has left the cat along most of the time, letting her wander around without getting Beroullized.
Saturday was Bernoulli’s first puppy class and it was a ton of good information and skills. We missed this part with Beaker due to COVID and it wasn’t until she was really almost a year did we put her into classes. It is absolute joy to see puppies play with each other, but also the skills they learn to listen and follow commands in a distracting environment is key for recall and the like. Bunsen is much better at all of this compared with Beaker.
Kris and I have one week of teaching left (and it’s a busy one) and then it’s exam break. It’s the big push before the slowdown leading to our summer holidays. I’m not sure what our plan is this summer - but having so much joy (and chaos) in our house will make it one to remember.

OMG, he is adorable. Bunsen knows he has to teach Bernoulli important life lessons. Beaker probably now has middle child syndrome and Ginger, well she's just waiting for her chance. Enjoy. Have a great summer and looking forward to all the pupdates.
Poor Ginger but Bernoulli personality is developing. 🙂
Thanks for the great photo and live streams. So cute to watch Bernoulli in action. Hope these next two weeks go by fast and your summer holiday time will begin. 🐾🐾❤️
