Hi all! We hope you are happy and healthy out there!
So around Wednesday this week, the cold arctic air that has had a grip on us for almost a month blew away, leaving behind nearly balmy temperatures of +5C. Yes that may not seem very warm, but after -25 to -35 for weeks, a +5C is smoking hot. There were people running without shirts on Thursday when it reached a peak of +7!
This has allowed me to get out further and farther with Bernoulli and Beaker then ever before in Bernoulli’s life on the farm. Friday, Saturday, and Sunday I strapped on my x-country skies and we went deep in the forest and creek to the north of our property. The last time I had gone that far was the previous winter, and then short after that we though Bunsen tore his ACL. Bunsen had a rough 2024 after with being on and off rest. Luckily his ACL was a partial tear, then his head atrophied for what the neurologist thinks is related to his cyst (and his head has grown back!) then the cyst and now his slipped disc.
The sun was shining and even though my adventure bud Bunsen was back home with Kris it was wonderful to get out that far with Bernoulli. Beaker was smiling ear to ear and couldn’t believe how far we were going, and as it was so warm she was comfortable the entire time. I was sweating through my toque and had to take it off…that’s how hot it was!
Bunsen continues to improve. He still has a short gait, but it isn’t as tippy tappy and he is moving with way more confidence around the house and slipping far less. He still has a long ways to got - 4 weeks more. We hope there will be snow left if he heals up in time to go for snow adventure. Kris had a great idea and let him on the deck. I piled up snow there for him and he played in it for an hour. She took some footage and even though it was tough seeing him confined, his joy of laying and playing in the snow was pretty awesome.
So big news.
Behind the scenes Kris and I have been working on a Bernoulli stuffie. Even though things are a bit up in the air with trade, we have decided to go for it when we finalize the stuffie prototype. To make the stuffie standout, it going to be of puppy Bernoulli. It will have his happy puppy face and come with the lab coat he wore in his puppy photos. We decided against safety glasses as he really didn’t wear them at this time. The stuffie will be about the size of the Beaker stuffie, so larger than the Ginger stuffie for those that want to recreate the “DAYS WITHOUT A GINGER MAULING”
We have a sneak peak of the back of it for you, and you’ll have to trust us….it is heart meltingly adorable and really captures Bernoulli as a puppy! If you’ve been with us for a while the initial thing we do is run a presale of the stuffie - this allows us to gage demand and then fund the order. It is a slow process though, so look for the stuffie offer later next month with it being delivered sometime in the summer or early fall.
Finally, to those who are sponsoring us with the newsletter, thank you so much! There is zero obligation to pay anything for the newsletter as it will always be free, but it was so heartwarming to hear that folks wanted to sponsor it because our content and this little blog once a week brings so much joy. Thank you!
Ok that’s it! On to the rest of the newsletter!

Is there a gentle traction table for puppies? That was used on me and stopped the need for 6 hour back surgery. It was done very slowly & gently. Maybe it can help Bunsen 🙏🏻
Wow, that is a wild temperature swing. We had a similar pattern in Interior Alaska in January (!). Like you, we enjoyed the break but the ice on the roads was treacherous. We want a Bernouille stuffy for our Golden! So cute! Thank you for your science news and kindness.
