Keeping Bunsen Big Bear in my prayers for some relief to his arthritis. It’s sad to hear of him aging and I do miss him seeing him in your posts. 😟🥲

Have you tried hemp oil for Bunsen? I saw this on a website. I’ve used hemp cream for me and it does help.

There is another company I use for Trixie called Elle Vet in Maine. Www.goellevet.com They make a superior hemp oil product that my vet recommend. Not sure if they ship to Canada tho. If they don’t lmk. Maybe I can help. 🤞❤️🥰

ask the vet on Friday.

Hugs to u all. Love you Bunsen. 🥰❤️

RE: Bunsen's walking

We have two BMDs. Both were 8 in Nov/Dec. Our rescue boy, Bentley has issues similiar to what you described for Bunsen, only advanced. He has trouble getting up, and keeping his rear legs under him. He kind of throws his rear legs forward when walking. His undercarriage gets dropped/drug almost anytime he is on a non-textured surface. Stairs and getting into the car are rough.

Our Vet says he has a neuro-degenerative condition in his back legs [not hips]. It will only get worse. Basically, his legs are slowly loosing feeling. He is happy, has minimal pain as far as we can tell, eats well, and will haltingly go out to take care of business, as our deck leading to the yard is slick vinyl wood product. Our walks are greatly anticipated, but shortened significantly. I also had a hip replacement Dec23, so can't help him get up much if he gets to that point.

The Vet prescribed Gabapenten and Dog-Profen for him. We found some stick on traction foot pads for him that help him get up a lot. However, if they get damp, the glue releases. There are other roll-on products [AMAZON} which we may try that give him better traction.

Necessarily, but sadly, we also had an end of life discussion with the Vet, since Bentley's case is quite advanced. The advice was that as long as he was happy, not in pain, eating, and could still take himself out to pee or poo, to just continue to love him and let him love us. When his quality of life has deteriorated, where he can no longer take care of himself, then we should have another discussion with the Vet..

I have to admit, there are tears falling down my cheeks as I write this. I DON'T WANT THIS TO HAPPEN! I'm sure you understand. Our thoughts at first were also onset of arthritis. I am thankful for each day we have with Bentley. It is a gift! Bunsen has been an unimaginable gift to your family and dog-twitter as well. I sincerely hope your pending Vet visit will go well, and Bunsen will be OK.

We are enjoying the calendar,

Jim Carter - Math teacher 47yrs.

I love that you are having a vasectomy for Bernoulli. We did that with our Golden. We are not as lucky in finding places for daycare that will accept it as sterilization but he recovered quickly from the procedure.
